With Blackbaud Merchant Services (BBMS) and the Blackbaud Payment Service (BBPS), you can securely process and store credit card transactions directly through Raiser's Edge. By managing this process centrally, you will streamline your donation process and save time on inputting donations from third-party gateways.
BBMS is a merchant account available to use with your Blackbaud products. Merchant accounts are responsible for actually processing the credit card transactions and depositing the funds into your bank account.
BBPS is Blackbaud's solution for secure credit card storage. All credit cards in your Blackbaud products are stored in our secure servers at BBPS. This protects the donor's personal information as well as the user from any liability.
Creating a Blackbaud Payment and Merchant Account to process payments is easy, and requires registering basic organisation information and bank account information for disbursements. Once the accounts are created, the log-in credentials are then saved in Raiser’s Edge for a streamlined configuration between your fundraising database and payment services account.
You can securely store credit card details in Raiser’s Edge and then use BBMS to authorise credit card transactions through the Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) module or Batch. This can be done on a one-off or recurring basis. Donors can also enter make an online donation by credit card to be processed through an Online Express donation page. Your BBMS account can then be used to monitor these transactions, disbursements or refunds.
Blackbaud Merchant Services is a PCI-compliant payment processing solution. It securely encrypts credit card data and provides additional fraud management tools. For more information on Risk Mitigation, see here.
