Are there any pre-relocation actions I need to take?

You do not need to take any actions before your solution is moved to the public cloud.

Are there any post-relocation actions I need to take?

After your ResearchPoint solution is moved to Microsoft Azure, you may need to take steps for your Bookmarks and OData connections to work correctly. In addition, if you integrate ResearchPoint with Raiser's Edge, you will also need to take steps to re-integrate the databases after the relocation. Blackbaud ID (BBID) Authentication

Q: Why is my solution being moved to the public cloud and how will I benefit?

A: Blackbaud Cloud Operations includes innovative, modern cloud infrastructure enabling heightened security, reliability, performance and more—all benefits that will help drive collaboration efforts throughout your organization. Your ResearchPoint data will reside within your region in the public cloud.

For you to take full advantage of the benefits of Blackbaud’s new modern cloud operations model, we will be relocating your hosted ResearchPoint solution to Microsoft® Azure.

Q: How does Blackbaud ensure the relocation process is secure, given the confidentiality/sensitivity of the information that is being transferred?

A: Customer data is fully encrypted, transferred, and stored in data encrypted storage containers during the timeframe of the customer relocation. Once the customer’s solution is moved into the public cloud environment successfully, all the encrypted stored data used to enable the relocation is deleted from the storage container.

Q: When will my relocation occur and what is the impact?

A: Relocation to the public cloud will occur during the timing specified in your email on the date in your notification. The downtime during your relocation only impacts your ResearchPoint solution, not any other Blackbaud solutions or constituent facing pages.

Q: What benefit does TDE (Transparent Date Encryption) provide?

A: TDE is an industry standard best practice methodology that provides customers with the added security of full database encryption for all fields, including free-text note fields. Blackbaud has enabled TDE for ResearchPoint in all public cloud environments including production and non-production without any customer effort or impact to normal customer operations. TDE enablement does not require any action for Blackbaud ResearchPoint customers to benefit from this additional layer of security.

Q: Will there be any disruption in service during the relocation?

A: During the relocation (timing specified in your email), users will not be able to log in or access your Blackbaud ResearchPoint solution. Please follow the action steps per your specific set up to avoid any disruption in service after your relocation.

Q: What actions do I need to take post-relocation?

A: There are actions you will need to take after the relocation, such as resetting your bookmarks. Please review this knowledgebase article to learn more.

Q: How will I know when the relocation is completed?

A: After the successful completion of your Microsoft Azure relocation, we will send an email to confirm your relocation is complete. If you wish to notify any additional users beyond those listed in the email you receive, please forward to those individuals. In the unlikely event you receive an email notification about the relocation not completing successfully, you can continue to use your ResearchPoint solution as you did before. We will reschedule your relocation and you will receive another notice alerting you to your rescheduled relocation time.
